Art Genre: Glass Sculpture

Growing up in Toledo, Ohio, the glass capital of the world, I was surrounded by both American industrial and artistic glass innovation. When I began working with glass in 1999, I knew my life long journey with this fluid, translucent material had just begun. Over time, my skills working with glass strengthened and evolved and it allowed me to explore how glass relates to American culture and consumption. My agenda as an artist will continue to use glass in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly method.
My work is derived from life experiences gathered during art school, employment and world travels. I believe an artist’s glass should be a material expression of their passion and beliefs. I produce art work to satisfy my urge to create with my hands. To produce a unique, one of a kind piece of art, for my own self-expression and reflection is complete freedom. We live in a consumer driven society that thrives off mass produced items, at low prices, resulting in a throwaway society. This creates an environment where fewer artisans are able to grow and exclusive art glass is scarce for much of the population.
