Art Genre: Pottery

I specialize in utilitarian ceramics. I grew up surrounded by handmade items - our home was filled with blankets, quilts, scarves and sweaters that were made by my grandmother. I love wrapping my daughters in one of my grandmother's handmade blankets knowing there is a person and a story behind that creation; a part of her that I carry with me. I make objects that are functional and blend into the users' everyday life. I love that a piece of pottery can not only be the centerpiece of a table but also of a conversation. My hope is these handmade pieces, and the stories they evoke, will find a special place in your home and your heart.

In college I took a ceramics class and I fell in love. For the past 20+ years I have built a relationship with clay that continues to evolve and grow. I've had the great fortune to apprentice with several production potters, teach ceramics, and gain valuable inspiration from the community and landscape in places such as North Carolina, Oregon, Arizona, Tennessee, Maryland, and now Utah. The foundation of my work is to create something from my heart and by my own hand, just as my grandmother did.
