Art Genre: oil and other painting

Makayla Larkins has been creating art since she was a toddler, drawing her first masterpiece on her parents’ brand-new leather couch. Now at 19 years old, she is a student at the University of Utah majoring in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing. While she has enjoyed various mediums such as ceramics, sculpture, photography, film, and printmaking, painting has always been her favorite.

Makayla has had many opportunities to share her art. During her senior year at Corner Canyon High School, she served as the Student Body Art Officer. She was also chosen to curate the AP Art class art show. She has won several awards including the Visual Arts Sterling Scholar for Corner Canyon High, winner of the Canyon School District Yule card, 1st place painting at the CCHS art gala, and many more.

Through these experiences, Makayla hopes to develop skills that she can apply to her future endeavors. Besides art, she has found a passion for humanitarian work and other local service projects. Growing up in Draper, she was a member of the Draper City Mayor’s Youth Council and served the community. Later on, she served as a member of the UserveUtah’s college service council. Recently, she was awarded a volunteer recognition certificate from the Lt. Governor. She loves being involved in the community and desires to utilize all these passions to help other people.
