Utah artist Richard (Dick) Horrocks, (1943-) is a representational oil painter well known for his skills in painting a diversity of genres evidenced in his multifaceted artist's portfolio. His painting style merges the principles of impressionism and realism with masterful mixtures and fluid movements of his oils on canvas. Richard values the freedom of choice to paint any subject matter that captures his eye... and moves his soul. He believes the importance of being an artist is to give credence and applause to all that God has created.

Richard is acknowledged as an exceptional professional artist by viewers of his artwork, returning customers and artistic colleagues. "A master of special effects in oil, Dick's (Richard Horrocks) expressive, bold brushstrokes capture realistic scenes portrayed in rich, brilliant images," states Hunter Ingalls, art column writer for Amarillo Globe-News, Texas, in his review of the Society of Master Impressionists' Exhibition. Richard's artwork has been critically selected for display in prominent galleries throughout the western United States, and Utah in particular. One Utah Gallery owner described him as a "colorist painter" noting his "impressive use of color."

Mr. Horrocks' reputation as a professional artist is reflected in the judiciary awards he receives from respected professional art organizations, entrances into juried art competitions, art museum invitationals, and in local and national fine art exhibitions. He is a Signature Member of both Oil Painters of American, and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters (NOAPS) artist organizations. The Society of Master Impressionists and the American Juried Art Salon acknowledges Richard's achievements with their highest award of Master Level. Three major art magazines have published his artwork: The American Art Collector, the Western Art Collector, and the Southwest Art Magazine. He also maintains associations with other oil painters, along with several public and private collectors inside and outside the United States, including both the Alsace region and southern area of France.
