Art Genre: Oil Painting

Shelly Coleman's artistic perspective finds its origins in a deep reverence for nature, drawing inspiration from the delicate equilibrium between control and spontaneity inherent in the natural world. Her canvas serves as a playground for exploring this dynamic interplay, often juxtaposing elements of unwavering stability with the fluid, ever-changing essence of water. Within her paintings, Shelly delicately layers transparent paint to create an interplay between what is above and below, what is close and far away. This allows her to explore nuanced symbolism within her work.

A graduate with a BFA in Drawing and Painting from Utah State University, Shelly has embarked on a creative journey marked by participation in numerous group and solo exhibitions. She also taught art in secondary schools for nine years and has painted over 100 murals in public and private settings. Her artistic evolution is not confined to the studio; Shelly also embraces the outdoors alongside her husband and four children, finding solace and inspiration in the beauty of the natural world.
